He Qualified!!
See his blue ribbon :)
We had our Pinewood Derby last night and it was a night of surprises for our family.
We started the troop race and K "Baja 500" Truck was doing just okay. Not winning any races, but not coming in last. He had been in the middle, with about four other boys with the same score. One boy in our Den won 3rd overall and so we all thought that he would also be winning our Den one too...
But when we started our Bear race, K kept winning first! Everyone was so surprised and wondering what might have happened. One dad mentioned that it takes a while for some of the cars to get going if they had any lubriation done to them (we had). I think out of 4 races, he got 3 1sts and 1 2nd. He then was able to qualify for our districts. He's qualified before but couldn't go because of a Disney trip (luckly our trip this year is beginning of May)
Then when they were handing out ribbons, they gave out ribbons for1-2-3 for best in show and K got 3rd!! I was so surprised. It's nice to know that it wasn't a popularity contest.
We had a great night!!

Oh my gosh K, what a cool looking Baja 500 and it seems to be mighty speedy too! Awesome! Congratulations. Isn't Pinewood Derby a fun thing to participate in?
My mid-western grandsons both participated this year, too. Have your mom check out the keepingupwiththesmiths.blogspot.com so you can see their cars.
I'm not sure why I told K to "have your mom check out . . ." when he is probably quite capable on the computer by himself!
